My Biography

  • Professional Background
    Professional Background

Sarah Rucker’s interest in medicine was shaped early in life through exposure to family members in healthcare, including pediatric critical care nursing and physical therapy. This foundational influence led her to begin volunteering at a local hospital during high school, where she shadowed multiple medical specialties and developed a strong interest in cardiology.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Morehead State University in Kentucky in May 2010. Following graduation, Sarah relocated to Orlando, Florida, where she began her nursing career at AdventHealth Orlando. Over the course of a decade, she worked primarily as a registered nurse in the Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit and in cardiac and lung transplantation. During this time, she collaborated closely with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, an experience that inspired her to pursue advanced practice training.

In May 2021, Sarah graduated from the University of South Alabama with a dual Master of Science in Nursing in Acute Care and Family Practice Nurse Practitioner tracks. She became board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and began her nurse practitioner career at Orlando Health, specializing in cardiology. In this role, she provided comprehensive cardiovascular care across multiple clinical settings, including the emergency department, intensive care unit, progressive care unit, and pre- and postpartum environments.

Committed to lifelong learning and clinical excellence, Sarah earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice with a cardiovascular subspecialty in May 2023. She joined the Cardiovascular Center of Florida in 2024, initially practicing in the hospital-based setting. In March 2026, she transitioned to the outpatient clinic, where she continues to expand her clinical expertise while focusing on patient education, healthy lifestyle promotion, and the integration of advanced invasive cardiology therapies.

Outside of her professional career, Sarah resides in Orlando with her husband, son, and dog. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and maintains an active lifestyle through running and travel.
